Description

Giraffes live in scattered enclaves throughout sub-Saharan Africa. They are the tallest animals alive today, stretching to nearly 20 feet, and their amazing tongues allow them to reach nearly two more feet and eat their favorite foods.

History: Having such a long neck could really be a pain - fortunately, Giraffes have some pretty amazing features in their design. First, the Giraffe’s heart has to work hard to pump blood all the way up its neck to reach the brain, but when a Giraffe stoops down to drink, all that blood should just rush to its head. Instead, the Giraffe has valves that close when it lowers its head, keeping the blood flow minimal.

Scientific Name: Giraffa camelopardalis

Characteristics: These treetop-loving Giraffes would love to be part of a mini Africa diorama or scene. They’re also useful for DIY animal projects or decorations.

Size: These Giraffe mini figures are about the height of a paperclip, around an inch tall.
